How to access your router settings

Most TalkTalk routers use the same login process, regardless of model.

1. Connect to your TalkTalk router

Before you begin, make sure your device is connected to your TalkTalk router by:

Wi-Fi, or
Ethernet cable

You won't usually be able to access your router settings if you're connected to another network.

2. Open your web browser

Open your preferred web browser, such as:

Chrome
Edge
Safari
Firefox

In the address bar, enter your router's IP address.

Common TalkTalk router addresses include:

192.168.1.1
192.168.1.254

If you're not sure which address to use, check the information sticker on the back or underside of your router.

3. Enter your login credentials

You'll now see the router login page.

Enter your:

Username
Admin password

These details can usually be found on the sticker attached to your router.

If login details aren't displayed, some older routers may use:

Username: admin
Password: admin

Once logged in, you'll be able to access your router settings.

Important: Router admin password vs Wi-Fi password

These are often confused, but they're completely different.

Wi-Fi password – Your Wi-Fi password allows devices such as phones, tablets, laptops and smart TVs to connect to your broadband network.

Router admin password – Your router admin password allows you to log in to your router settings and make changes to your network configuration.

Put simply:

Wi-Fi password = access to your internet connection

Admin password = access to your router settings

If you're trying to connect a device to Wi-Fi, you'll need your Wi-Fi password, not your admin password.

Which TalkTalk router do I have?

Not sure which router you've got? The easiest way to check is to look at the label on the back or underside of the device.

Common TalkTalk routers include:

Wi-Fi Hub Black (Huawei)

A black router with TalkTalk branding and a model reference on the product label.

Wi-Fi Hub (Sagemcom)

Usually labelled as a TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub with model information shown underneath.

Huawei HG533 or HG532a router

An earlier-generation TalkTalk router with Huawei branding.

D-Link DSL-3780 or DSL-3680 router

A D-Link branded router with the router model printed on the bottom label.

How to change your router admin password

If your router supports changing the admin password, follow the instructions for your model.

Only change settings you're familiar with. Editing unknown settings could affect your broadband service.

Wi-Fi Hub (Sagemcom)

Open Maintenance or Administration settings.
Select Password Management.
Enter your current password.
Create a new password.
Save your changes.

Wi-Fi Hub Black (Huawei)

Select settings
Choose System Settings
Select Modify Login Password
Enter your current password.
Create a new password.
Save your changes.

Huawei HG533 or HG532a router

Select Maintenance
Open Account Management
Update your administrator password
Save your settings

D-Link DSL-3780 or DSL-3680 router

Select Management
Open Admin Settings
Enter your new password
Save your changes

Note: Menu names may vary slightly depending on firmware version.

Forgot your password

If you've changed your router admin password and can't remember it, you may need to restore your router to factory settings.

Before doing this, remember:

Any custom settings will be lost.
Port forwarding rules will be removed.
Personal configuration changes may need to be set up again.

Try the following:

Confirm you're connected to your TalkTalk router.
